Meet Our Principal

Julie Skiddell, Principal
Julie Skiddell lived with her husband and three children in northern Israel for 14 years where she taught middle and high school. She became fluent in Hebrew by participating in an intensive 6-month course run by the State of Israel. She comes to RCBE as a seasoned professional with her Master’s degree in Education and Teaching English as a Second Language. Her BFA is from Temple University and she is certified to teach in the state of New York. She has a special talent for incorporating a wide variety of creative instructional methods, including art, music and drama to engage and motivate student learning.

Julie has supervised and coordinated educational programs between Canadian and Israeli middle school students. These programs raised multicultural awareness through the use of videoconferencing and culminated in an exchange program between the two student groups.

She has undergone extensive training through Israel’s Ministry of Education Teacher's Course on Holocaust Studies and youth delegations to Poland, Czechoslovakia and Lithuania. Her experience includes leading monthly workshops on Holocaust awareness and studies to the senior class in preparation for their class trip to Poland, which she chaperoned.

Julie is very enthusiastic in her new role as Reconstructionist Congregation Beth Emeth’s Hebrew school principal and is a vibrant addition to our synagogue staff.

You can contact Julie by calling the synagogue office, or by sending her an e-mail at principal (at) rcbe (dot) org.

It is through the idealism of youth that man catches sight of the truth, and in that idealism he possesses a wealth which he must never exchange for anything else.
