Meet Our Rabbi


Rabbi Elliot Skiddell
         Rabbi Elliot Skiddell joined RCBE in August 2006 after spending a number of years in Israel.

         Rabbi Skiddell is a 1980 graduate of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College. Previously he had served as Congregational Rabbi for Ramat Shalom Synagogue in Plantation, Florida for ten years.

         For the past fourteen years, Rabbi Skiddell and his family have been living in Israel. While there, he worked for the Galiee Education Foundation. Between 1999 and 2005 he served as Regional Director for the Jewish Agency for Israel covering the areas of Tzefat, Hatzros and Rosh Pina.

         Rabbi Skiddell was awarded the Doctor of Divinity by the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in 2005. He was honored as the outstanding employee of the Jewish Agency in 2004. ln the past, he has served as President of the following organizations: The Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association, the Jewish Reconstructionist Foundation and the North Broward Board of Rabbis. His publications include co-editing the Mordechai M. Kaplan Centennial Resource Booklet and numerous articles related to Reconstructionist themes.

         Rabbi Skiddell's family includes his wife Julie, an artist and teacher; daughters 22 and 19 years of age and a son, 13 years of age.
